2013 Estate Pinot Noir
The 2013 vintage produced some elegant wines that typify the cool growing season that used to be the norm in Oregon. However, the 2013 harvest was not one for the faint of heart. A warm spring and summer gave way in September to the remnants of an Asian typhoon that drenched Oregon for the weeks just prior to harvest. Winemakers had the choice of picking early before the fruit was fully ripe or riding it out knowing that some of the crop would be lost. We rode it out.
The bright raspberry and wild strawberry flavors sneak up on you. The lighter color, due to the cooler-than-normal vintage disguises a well-balanced wine that is soft on the palate and lingers, toasty and smooth.
