RIBBON RIDGE VINEYARD

Ribbon Ridge Vineyard is a small gem of a vineyard in the heart of Yamhill County’s Ribbon Ridge American Viticultural Area (AVA). Officially founded in 2000 by Dewey and Robin Kelly, it is the realization of a dream that first took shape in 1978 when they purchased the land and named the Ribbon Ridge Vineyard site.  The first grapes were planted in 2001 and the first wines from Ribbon Ridge Vineyard were released in 2003 to critical acclaim.

2014 Ribbon Ridge Vineyard Estate Pinot Noir

2014 was the first in a string of warm growing seasons in the Northern Willamette Valley.  From bud break through harvest, we saw an almost ideal growing season that produced a near record quantity of exceptional, balanced fruit. Spring came a couple weeks earlier than normal and was generally dry and warm. The good weather continued through the summer and gave us one our earlier harvests — September 27th.

The resulting wine is ripe, rich and deeply concentrated while retaining the elegance and bright aromatics that make Oregon Pinot Noirs so drinkable. The wine has aged gracefully, and is drinking beautifully now and can be enjoyed for at least another ten years.

Tasting Notes

The 2014 Ribbon Ridge Vineyard Pinot Noir is one of the more complex wines we’ve made to date with layers and layers to enjoy. Sensuous warm black fruit provides the foundation for the bright cherry and strawberry notes that linger on and on. Silky and warm on the palate, with mouth-filling tannins and balanced elegance. The richness and a hint of spiciness persist and beckon you back for more.
